Taylor
Taylor Swift may be the most rare of all pop artists: one capable of successfully cross the divide between country and pop, conquering the globe. Swift left her heritage in country music as if she was a second skin and showed that she had the best pop sensibility of the time. Swift was the only musician/singer to be a part of the trending zeitgeist and take it out on the road. It was apparent in her earliest songs especially on the neo pay homage to Tim McGraw. On her 2nd album, Fearless (2008) Swift revealed a singer/songwriter who was beginning to get acquainted with her. The album was able to have significant legs not only in the U.S. where it racked the record with six platinum singles, on the strength of the Top Ten hits Love Story and the hit single You Belong with Me but throughout the globe, performing especially well within Australia, U.K. Canada and Australia. Speak Now delivered almost two years later, which consolidated the popularity and pushed Swift to the heights of stardom. Over the next three years, her popularity grew -three times - Red (2012), Reputation (2014) in addition to 1989 (2014-2015) -- as Swift entered the world of pop music in which her talent was already well-established. In the end, when she refocused her music with the stripped-down releases of 2020, folklore, and Evermore, she still remained on top. This position was maintained with the re-recordings she had made from her earlier catalogue as in Midnights which was her chart-topping synth heavy 2022 album.
